What is video astronomy ?
The recording of video files (frames) with webcams, videocameras /camcorders
and more. They all must have CCD or CMOS Chips which are useful for
astronomical applications because they are low noised and photosensitive.
The cameras could be connected with adapters at all kind of optics
like telescopes or binoculars for example.
How works the technique ?
Easy description: After recording a few minutes video (for example
with a webcam) you have to convert the AVI-file to single BMP-files.
So you could get more then 3000 images per hour! Then easily search
all the images for the bests. Baybe the fifty finest images could
then be stacked to a fine summary image.
This addition eliminates the grainy chip noise substantially.
This summary image is now ready for a lot of image processing like
color balance or level adjustment, sharpening, smoothing. After that
you have a beautiful image with more seeable details.
